ANID’s Fondecyt Postdoctoral call finances research proposals submitted by researchers who completed their doctoral studies less than five years ago and who are embarking on their first independent project with the sponsorship of academics established in Chilean higher education institutions and research centers. In its 2025 call, five projects presented with the sponsorship of academics from the UC School of Engineering were selected to receive funding for 3 years:

Cassandra Euzen
Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the Université de Strasbourg (France), with the project “Sediment archives and fingerprinting to assess current and legacy mining impacts in three Andean watersheds”, sponsored by the professor of the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering, Pablo Pastén.
Oscar Ramírez
Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with the project “CO2 Capture; POLY (Ionic Liquids); High Porosity Cross-Linked Polymeric Matrices”, sponsored by the professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses, Néstor Escalona.

César Pazo
Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with the project “Sustainable methanol production through CO2 capture and conversion using DFM Perovskites@Β-Zeolite”, sponsored by the professor of the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses and Engineering and Construction Management, Elodie Blanco.
Abhinava Chatterjee
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (India), with the project “Injectable Mxene colloidal solutions for superior human joint articulation: A multiscale investigation from molecular dynamics simulation to in-vitro experimentation”, sponsored by professor of the Department of Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering, Max Marian.

Nicolás Gajardo
Ph.D. in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from Technische Universität Dortmund (Germany), with the project “Tailored liquid systems for biocatalytic esterification”, sponsored by professor of the Department of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering, Nadia Guajardo.
We congratulate the new postdoctoral researchers joining the UC School of Engineering, as well as their sponsoring professors, on this achievement. Their contributions will further enhance the volume and impact of advanced engineering research conducted in our School.
