The School of Engineering annually funds vacancies for postdoctoral researchers who submit their research proposals to carry out 12-month projects under the sponsorship of School faculty. After a peer review process, selected proposals receive financial support for the researchers’ salaries and the mobility of foreign or regional applicants This year, six postdoctoral positions were awarded to the following researchers and sponsoring professors:

Cassandra Euzen
D. in Earth Sciences, Geochemistry and Fluvial Geomorphology at Strasbourg University (France), with the project "Sediment archives and fingerprinting to assess current and legacy mining impacts in three Andean watersheds", sponsored by Professor Pablo Pastén of the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering.

José Avendaño
D. in Construction Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), with the project "Integration of artificial intelligence with advanced BIM-DFE management methodologies for steel construction projects in Chile", sponsored by Professor Beda Barkokebas of the Department of Construction Engineering and Management.

Osheen
D. in Hydraulic Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, with the project "Tailored liquid systems for biocatalytic esterification", sponsored by Professor Jorge Gironás of the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering.

Suryank Dwivedi
D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad (India), with the project "Synergizing Additive Manufacturing with Bioactive Coatings: Exploring Process-Property-Performance using an Experimental and Data-Driven Approach", sponsored by Professor Jorge Ramos of the Department of Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering.

Ernesto Pillajo
D. in Civil Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with the project "Artificial intelligence as a decision support system for successful job performance during construction activities", sponsored by Professor Andrés Prieto of the Department of Construction Engineering and Management.

Mahdi Bajolvand
D. in Mining Engineering, with the project "Utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to establish quantitative and semi-quantitative relationships between Pulsed Fast Thermal Neutron Activation (PFTNA) data logs and the mineralogical content of ore bodies", sponsored by Professor Amin Hekmatnejad of the Department of Mining Engineering.
We congratulate our new postdoctoral fellows and wish them a fruitful stay at the School of Engineering and great success in the projects they will develop alongside their sponsoring professors.
